Ebuehi Can’t Wait To Step On The Pitch Again

Ebuehi sustained a crucial ligament injury during a pre-season game for Benfica in 2018.

He is yet to feature during a competitive game for Benfica since his from Dutch side ADO The Hague .

The 24 year linked up with FC Twente on loan last month.

“It’s been an extended period out and a tough time on behalf of me ,” an emotional Ebuehi told BBC Sport Africa.

“Of course, questions like ‘could this be the end?’ can crop up from time to time.

“You sometimes hear that with this sort of major injuries players never return to an equivalent level they were before the injury.”

The injury hit him even as he was trying to settle during a new country after leaving home for the primary time in his life.

“It was difficult within the beginning I can’t lie around that,” he admitted.

“To be faraway from the sole country you’ve got ever known, where you’re born and faraway from your family and friends. you are feeling alone knowing it had been just not possible for them to only travel by .”

“It’s changed me tons . Not only as a player but as an individual .

“Away in another country being alone. Sometimes it’s like an unseen tears of frustration due to the mental pain.

“Like I always tell my family and friends now, that I’m thankful to God for this sort of hard lessons sometimes in life.

“It really made me conscious of lot of things, like the way to lookout of my body now. How things can happen in football, the way to affect them. I’m thankful for the teachings that God gave me.

“Going forward in my career, i do know the way to lookout of myself and what’s good on behalf of me , the way to handle any future injuries, hopefully it’ll not happen.

Ebuehi is now determined to require advantage of his latest chance back within the Netherlands.

“I missed the whole 2018/19 season due to this difficult injury, but I’m happy that I’m fit now and I’m thankful that i’m ready to play the sport that i really like again,” he insisted.

“Twente have given me the prospect to point out that the last two years was an unfortunate bad luck.

“It would be convenient for a few people to write down me off but others know better.”
